The Differences Between American Cockroaches and German Cockroaches

The first and most obvious determining factor in identifying American Cockroaches are that they typically reside outdoors. These roaches can usually be found near moist, humid environments such as drains, sewers and trash receptacles. Keeping these areas clean can be difficult and annoying, but is a great first step towards limiting the chances of an infestation.
