Signs you have them
- Messy, strong, tangled webs low to the ground
- Round, papery egg sacs
- Spiders hanging upside down in the web
Why it matters
Their venom is a neurotoxin. A bite can cause severe muscle pain and cramping. Get medical care if you're bitten.
How we treat it
Our inside and outside treatment targets the places widows hide. We treat meter boxes, garage corners, and eaves, and knock down webs and egg sacs.
Prevention
- Wear gloves when moving firewood and stored items
- Shake out shoes and gloves left in the garage
- Store toys and patio cushions off the ground
