When each pest and weed is active in Central Texas, based on the seasons we treat them. The current month is highlighted.
Feb – Mar
Pre-emergent window
The first PPF treatment goes down before soil warms and crabgrass sprouts. Termite swarmers start after warm spring rains.
Apr – Jun
Ants and mosquitoes
Fire ant mounds pop up after every rain, sugar ants move into kitchens, and mosquito season starts. Put out mosquito stations early.
Jul – Aug
Heat and drought
No lawn treatments. Chinch bugs hit St. Augustine, and scorpions and roaches come indoors looking for water.
Sep – Oct
Busiest months
Fall PPF, grubs and armyworms, cricket invasions, and brown patch as nights cool. September is our busiest month.
Nov – Jan
Rodents move in
Roof rats and mice head for attics and garages. Winter pest visits keep the barrier up, and winter weeds like chickweed show up in dormant lawns.
