Scorpions & Crawling Insects · Austin, Texas
Scorpions
The striped bark scorpion is tan-yellow with two dark stripes down its back and a slender tail. It's the only scorpion common in Austin homes.

Signs you have them
- Scorpions in bathtubs, sinks, and bedding
- Scorpions dropping from the ceiling or coming from light fixtures
- They glow under a UV flashlight at night
Why it matters
A painful sting with local swelling and numbness. Get medical care for small children, older adults, or anyone with a strong reaction.
How we treat it
Inside and outside treatment, attic dust, and a yard granule to cut down the insects they eat. We treat weep holes, the roofline, and rock borders, where they hide.
Prevention
- Move woodpiles and landscape rock away from the house
- Seal weep holes with mesh and fill gaps around pipes
- Pull beds away from walls
- Shake out shoes and towels
